Camping in the Rain

We love to go camping as a family. Heading up into the mountains and taking a few days just to soak up nature is both stress relieving and peaceful. However there are times nature doesn’t always want to conform to our peaceful retreat. Just this last year we drove up into the mountains and found a nice little place next to the river. I was out doing some fishing with the boys when it started to pour. We scrambled to get our gear and head back to the campsite before everything got soaked. Luckily, I had just bought a few rain ponchos for the boys so they stayed dry while we packed up all the camp chairs and other things that might get wet. The rest of the trip we stayed in the tent as much as possible and had a good time reading, telling stories and enjoying each other’s company. I couldn’t believe that a nasty storm like that had brought us all together.

My Time in Asia is Just Beginning

I’ve been traversing across Asia for the past few days, visiting all the major locations in each country and city I’ve visited. So far I’ve been in China, Singapore, South Korea and Indonesia and now I’m headed for Hong Kong. I took a long train from mainland China which was very interesting and exciting. I’m planning on visiting Macau next, as it’s not too far from Hong Kong, looks beautiful, and is right on the coast. I looked at some hotels in Hong Kong and found that many of them are perfectly reasonable and still carry 4 or 5 stars, some with excellent views of the water. I’m excited about heading there next as Hong Kong looks to be the perfect place with plenty to see and do.

The Reason I Like Stuttgart

I have to say that I am one of those lucky employees that traveling is a requirement, it is not often you get to see the world with minimal out of pocket expense. Through my travels I would like to think of myself as a bit of a connoisseur especially when it comes down to hotels. If I had to pick where I liked staying the best it would have to be the Stuttgart hotels. First and foremost I would have to say that no matter which one you stay in they all make you feel warm and welcomed. It is the one country that a language barrier never seems to be an issue, there always seems to be an English speaking staff member on duty and even in the hotel restaurants the menus are translated into English. Might I add the Swabian speciality dishes there are not half bad either.

Not Included in the Price…

It was a chilly, gray day in May, which matched the mood of a bone-tired and depressed Susan as she stood by the pile of sandbags that had been placed there by the city for her to use to protect her dream home from the rapidly-rising water. “Stupid me!” she thought. She hadn’t heeded any of the numerous warnings about the river that she had received from knowledgeable friends before she bought last fall.

But what was that sound of voices? Hmmm…it was a group of her neighbors who had come to help out! “Where do you want us to put the bags?” they asked. Half an hour later, the job was done. “Thank you so much!” was all she could say. Yes, the day was still gray – and chilly – but inside Susan now was nothing but the warmth of gratitude for such incredibly thoughtful neighbors!

No more Shy Moments

Online casual dating is something that I cannot wait to try. I am so excited to try this because I am so shy, and on the web there are no face-to-face meetings until I am ready. Plus, it eliminates all of those awkward moments when there is just no connection with the person you are on a date with. I love being able to communicate via the web or telephone before meeting someone. I know many people who have been able to meet great people through the web and hope that this is also the way things turn out for me as well. It is a first, but I hope that it will be an activity I enjoy for a long time to come, or at least until I meet that special person that sweeps me off of my feet!

A Memorable Vacation in Singapore

A tour of Asia can be a trip a lifetime when including a visit to Singapore as well. The year-round mild climate makes it a vacation spot for any time of year, especially during the typically warmer months. For our 25th wedding anniversary last June, this was just the trip that fulfilled our desire to travel and see a part of the world we never had. After a spectacular tour of Asia, our next stop was in Singapore where the restaurants go on for miles for fun and the site seeing attractions are breathtaking. The beauty of modern tech and retail took us into the future. Not only are the hotels in Singapore welcoming with comfortable amenities, the streets of Singapore are situated for long walks full of people, noise and smells with plenty of places to shop, as well. Singapore will surely help create memories of a lifetime.

Growing flowers inside is easy

My mother has had a blank, boring living room wall for years. After trying various pieces of artwork, none of which looked good in her minimalist room, she decided to look at indoor living wall. Nothing more than a wall-mounted planter, an indoor living wall showcases plants and flowers. After looking at photos on the Internet, my mother decided she would like one.

She went to a gardening store and picked out some ivy, along with a flat of vibrant flowers. She then bought a small trellis, some lightweight plastic planter pots, and spoke to one of the staff about the equipment needed to set up a small living wall indoors.

Back home my mother directed, while my husband and I created her living wall using nothing but a trellis, a few plastic planters and a simple hydration system. A few months later, and it really does look lovely.

How I learned about incontinence

This is a true store from when I was sixteen. When I turned sixteen I decided to get a job at the local pharmacy. I knew nappies went on babies but hadn’t really stopped to think about elderly adults who lose their bladder control. A customer came into the store and appeared to be lost so I asked him if I could help find any product. The man’s face turned bright red and he asked me where the nappy section of the shop was and so I showed him the baby section. This face turned even brighter red and he asked for adult nappy. I wasn’t sure what he meant as I never had experience with incontinence pads so I asked my boss about it. My boss had to explain it to me that some adults need nappies when they lose their ability to hold it and my boss showed me where they kept. I think my face was red for the rest of the day!

Renovation Revolution!

When my mother passed away she left the home that I was raised in to me and my husband. We currently were living in a quaint little apartment just off main street in my hometown and I was pregnant so we were excited to have more space for our family to grow. I loved my mothers house but felt it needed some renovations as the memories were just too painful since she had so recently passed on. We didn’t want to change everything but the living room was a space I never did like because of the shag carpet and green walls. We ended up choosing a light blue color that emitted a relaxed spring time feeling from it. We installed some nice knotty wood oak Manchester shutters that really brought the whole room together. I was extremely happy with our choices and was sure mom was approving as well.

New Bedroom Furniture

As she was looking for new furniture, she stumbled across some designer beds that caught her eye. There was one in particular though that stuck out to her. As if it was calling her name, she walked closer to it.

This beautiful piece of art was unique with its round mattress. Enclosed in a curtain of lace, the privacy beckoned her soul. This piece of art was truly a part of her.

With the bed calling her name, she examined it more and saw many more possibilities. The décor options ran threw her mind. Did she want a tropical island feel or a more romantic scene to top of her bedroom?

With much determination and looked at the price, although shocked at high it was she knew she wanted it. With that she was determined to make this piece of art her own.

Tactfully Truthful

I have a friend who is thinking about using a London dating service for the first time. She looks a lot older than she is and wants to use a picture that was taken ten years prior. She asked me if this would be considered false advertising, as she plans on losing sixty pounds in the next few weeks. Well, weight is the least of her worries.

She is a heavy smoker and she has developed the wrinkles around the mouth as well as some crows feet. She is never going to look like the picture that she is planning to submit as a current photo. This is an awkward position to be put in because, I am a friend and don’t want to hurt her feelings. However, in this case I plan on being tactfully truthful.

Tough Decision Making

I’m sitting at my office at the moment trying to order business cards for my husband online. He just became a plumber and wants a bunch of cards handed out that states that he is a Bolton emergency plumber and is available around the clock. When any home owner sees that type of business man they are more prone to picking the guy who is constantly avaiable no matter what time an emeregency occurs. My husband went back and forth about the idea, but he knew as well as I did that this was a way to draw clients in. His first day of going on an overnight call may be frustrating but as soon as he receives pay all his night hours he worked will be well worth his time and energy spent.
